Following a comprehensive search and interview process, Superintendent Mayberry will recommend the appointment of Jacqulyn Dignum as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at the Aug. 11 Board of Education meeting. Dignum would succeed Rachel Anderson, who served in the role from July 2022 before becoming superintendent of the Greenville Central School District.
“It has been an honor to serve the students, families and staff of the Guilderland Central School District as both a teacher and principal, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support our schools in this new capacity,” Dignum said. “Working alongside talented educators and leaders throughout my career has given me a deep appreciation for the collaborative work that drives student success. I look forward to building on that foundation as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning across the district and create meaningful opportunities for every student to thrive.”
A longtime educator and Capital Region native, Ms. Dignum brings more than 15 years of experience in education and a strong connection to the community. She has served as principal of Lynnwood Elementary since 2022, working closely with students, staff and families to maintain a welcoming school culture and high standards of learning.
As Dignum transitions into her new role, former Pine Bush Elementary School Principal Chris Sanita will serve as interim principal of Lynnwood Elementary beginning Sept. 1 while the district conducts a search for the school’s next permanent principal. Sanita brings decades of educational leadership experience and will work closely with Ms. Dignum, district leaders, staff and families to ensure a smooth transition and strong start to the school year.
“In all my roles in Guilderland, I have experienced firsthand how curriculum is implemented in classrooms and how instructional decisions directly impact students’ daily learning experiences,” Dignum said. “As we begin the 2026-27 school year, it will be important to continue refining our elementary English Language Arts curriculum while strengthening our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure students K-12 receive the academic and social-emotional support they need to succeed. I am also excited to continue to expand our Universal Prekindergarten program and explore additional opportunities to enrich students’ educational experiences across the district.”
Ms. Dignum joined the district in 2013 as a fifth grade teacher at Lynnwood Elementary, where she taught for six years before becoming the school’s math specialist. In that role, she provided intervention services for students and coached teachers on implementing the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards to strengthen instructional practice and support high-quality learning experiences.
In July 2021, Ms. Dignum was appointed interim principal of Lynnwood Elementary and was named principal the following year. As principal, she has focused on fostering a positive school culture rooted in joyful learning, belonging and student growth.
“Over the years, Jacqulyn has distinguished herself as a thoughtful leader who always keeps students at the center of her work,” Superintendent Mayberry said. “From the classroom to school leadership, she has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. I look forward to working with her in this new capacity as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning opportunities for all students.”
Before joining GCSD, Dignum taught fourth grade for three years at a private school.
Ms. Dignum earned her bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Business Administration from Siena College. She went on to earn master’s degrees in Childhood Education and Special Education (Grades 1-6) from The College of Saint Rose. In 2021, she completed her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership and earned her New York State School Building Leader certification. She is expected to complete her New York State School District Leader certification through Russell Sage College this summer.
