Jan. 26: Four New Cases; Part of GES K Remote

New COVID-19 Cases

Last evening and today, the district learned of four new COVID-19 cases. There are two cases associated with the high school, and one of those cases required contact tracing. One case is connected to Westmere Elementary, and one case is linked to Guilderland Elementary; both required contact tracing. All cases that required contact tracing were completed following Albany County Department of Health guidelines. All of those individuals have been contacted, and the Department of Health should be following up with them.

The positive case at Guilderland Elementary School was determined as part of the district’s surveillance testing. As a result of this case and the need to quarantine staff, Guilderland Elementary has a staffing shortage at the Kindergarten level. Therefore, three of Guilderland Elementary School’s Kindergarten cohorts will transition to remote-only instruction starting tomorrow, Jan. 27, through Friday, Jan. 29. The families of students transitioning to all remote instruction have been contacted.
