Larson, Steele and the Guilderland JV Girls Lacrosse team named Dutchmen of the Week for May 11th

Each week, we highlight two student-athletes (modified, mod 9, frosh, JV or varsity level) for athletic accomplishments based on the following criteria:

  • The athlete should have made a significant impact on a contest within the nomination time frame, which is the week prior to selection; or
  • The athlete must have shown excellent leadership, sportsmanship, noticeable improvement or effort, community service, and/or other notable traits.

Congratulations to Keira Larson (Modified Track & Field), Parker Steele (Varsity Track & Field) and the Guilderland JV Girls Lacrosse team for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of May 11th.

Keira Larson (Modified Track & Field)

Keira delivered a strong performance at the Broadalbin-Perth Modified Invitational, taking first place in the long jump against competitors from 17 schools. She also anchored the 4×100 relay team to a second-place finish with a strong final leg. Keira’s energy has been a consistent positive for the team, and she has put together an impressive season with the modified squad while showing strong potential for future success in track and field.

Parker Steele (Varsity Track & Field)

Parker Steele delivered a standout week for Guilderland.

She broke the school record in the 300-meter hurdles and posted the second-fastest time in Section 2 history at the May 13 dual meet, while helping secure an undefeated season. At the Eddy Meet on May 16, she won the 100-meter hurdles for the fourth straight year (14.19, No. 3 in NYS) and the 400-meter hurdles, setting a school record of 60.29 (No. 1 in NYS, No. 15 nationally). Steele now holds every hurdle record in program history and helped lead the team to a championship, contributing 22.5 of 47 points while demonstrating strong sportsmanship throughout.

Guilderland JV Girls Lacrosse Team

The JV girls lacrosse team earned Dutchmen of the Week honors after completing a perfect 15-0 season, an achievement believed to be unmatched in the program for more than a decade.

The team’s success extended beyond its undefeated record. Players demonstrated consistent teamwork, accountability and effort throughout the season. Each game featured a balanced offensive approach, with at least five different goal scorers, while the defense held every opponent to single-digit scoring.

The roster of 19 athletes emphasized trust, support and shared success over individual performance. Their commitment to teamwork, along with strong character and leadership, defined the season and set a standard for the program.
