Each week, we highlight two student-athletes (modified, mod 9, frosh, JV or varsity level) for athletic accomplishments based on the following criteria:
- The athlete should have made a significant impact on a contest within the nomination time frame, which is the week prior to selection; or
- The athlete must have shown excellent leadership, sportsmanship, noticeable improvement or effort, community service, and/or other notable traits.
Congratulations to Alex Marmet (Unified Bowling) and the Indoor Track 4 x 400 Relay Team of Lauren Hickey, Addison Vellekoop, Lauren Burnash and Parker Steele for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of March 2nd.
Alex Marmet (Unified Bowling)
This season, Alex has shown steady growth as a Unified bowling athlete, improving his score through consistent effort and dedication. His 158 score helped secure a recent win. He has bowled for score in every match, showing reliability and confidence under pressure. Alex approaches each game with strategy, making thoughtful adjustments frame by frame. He is also a positive, supportive teammate who works well with everyone and helps foster a welcoming team environment. His commitment to improvement, teamwork and sportsmanship reflects the spirit of Unified athletics.

Lauren Hickey, Addison Vellekoop, Lauren Burnash & Parker Steele (Varsity Indoor Track & Field)
Guilderland’s girls 4×400 relay team won the New York state championship at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Championship Meet.
Lauren Burnash, Parker Steele, Lauren Hickey and Addison Vellekoop broke the school record, finishing first with a time of 3:54 to earn the state title.
The victory capped a standout performance by the student‑athletes and their coaches. State champions! Go Dutch!
