Nov. 8: Positive COVID-19 Case Connected to FMS and GHS

On the evening of November 8, 2020, the district learned that an individual connected to both Farnsworth Middle School and Guilderland High School has tested positive for COVID-19. As a reminder, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information; therefore, we cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

The district will work with the Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) to supply contact tracing information. For anyone exposed, the health department will reach out and advise on the need to quarantine and arrange for testing.

The school district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Department of Health and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings.

At this time, all schools remain open for in-person instruction. We will continue to work with the Albany County Department of Health and will communicate any necessary updates.

Please reach out to your principal directly if you would like more information about the district’s health and safety procedures. Any additional questions, including information about testing procedures, can be directed to the Albany County Department of Health at (518) 447-4580.
