Apr. 26 update: DEI committee openings; no school May 27

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

I hope all GCSD families had a pleasant spring recess and were able to enjoy some downtime. All Guilderland Central School District students will have the opportunity to enjoy an additional day off from school on Friday, May 27, barring any additional significant snowstorms. Since GCSD did not use all of our allotted snow days, there will be no school and district offices will be closed on May 27, extending the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Please make note of this change to the school year schedule.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Openings

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee of the GCSD Board of Education is recruiting new members to replace those who have chosen to serve a single term. The DEI Committee is seeking two students, three parents, one staff member and two community members to fill eight openings. The purpose of the DEI Committee is to provide direction, support and oversight for the school district’s work to become more diverse, equitable and inclusive through its policies, practices and programs. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please send an email to superintendent@guilderlandschools.net by Friday, Apr. 29. You can learn more about serving on the DEI Committee or DEI initiatives at GCSD on the district website.

School budget vote day is Tuesday, May 17

The Guilderland community will be asked to vote on the 2022-23 school year budget on Tuesday, May 17. Voter registration is required in the Guilderland Central School District; to learn more about registering to vote and voter eligibility, please visit the district website. You can also learn more about the candidates running for GCSD Board of Education.
