ParentSquare information for community members

ParentSquare is a way to receive email news from the district and its schools.

The district began utilizing ParentSquare in the 2023-24 school year for emergency notifications, such as school closings/delays and emergency situations in schools and has since expanded its use to include school and district-level messages.

The district is a central hub of activity in the community, particularly as it relates to educational and recreational opportunities available to children. This Community Announcements section is provided as a service to parents for informational purposes only. Programs listed are not necessarily affiliated with nor endorsed by the Guilderland Central School District. Current announcements

Lacrosse Camps, July and August

Albany County Parks and Recreation is hosting lacrosse summer camps in various locations. These camps are for youth lacrosse athletes of all levels, ages 8-13, with the purpose of develop skills, improving technique and building valuable peer relationships focused on teamwork, cooperation and sportsmanship. One-Day Basketball Boot Camp, June 19

A basketball boot camp for boys and girls, ages 7-14, will be held on Wednesday, June 19 at the Albany Jewish Community Center. The Albany JCC is located at 340 Whitehall Rd; the cost of the camp is $80. For more details and registration information, please see the flier.

Town of Guilderland Summer Enrichment Camps, July 2024

The Town of Guilderland is offering several summer enrichment camps for students entering grades K-9 during the month of July. Programs include “American Girl Camp,” “Fun with Fabrics” and “Drama Fun for Kids.” View the flier for more information.

Summerfest & Trail Run, June 22, 12-4 p.m.

Albany County is hosting Summerfest, Saturday, June 22, from 12-4 p.m. at Lawson Lake County Park. This event features rock wall climbing, backyard games, face painting, live musical performances and much more. See the accompanying flyer for more details.

UAlbany Danes Soccer Academy Summer Camps, July

UAlbany Men’s Soccer is hosting two youth summer soccer camps. A half-day camp for boys and girls ages 6-13 will be held July 15-19; an academy training center camp will be held for boys and girls ages 12-14 July 15-18.  For more information visit or see the attached flyer.

Flag Football Summer Camp

Albany County Parks & Recreation is holding a Flag Football Summer Camp in various Capital Region locations for children ages 8-13; limited spots are available. The sessions will be held throughout July. Please see the attached flyer for details regarding dates and locations. 

Sci-Tech Summer Boot Camp

Not the typical summer camp, Sci-Tech summer boot camp has all new activities, same amazing advanced learning!  With only eight students per class, this camp for children 6-13 years old is taught by master educators. STEAMwhiz‘s advanced Minecraft-based STEM summer camp is both intensive and fun, providing students with experiences that go above and beyond the traditional academic setting. Host a foreign scholar

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is in need of twenty families to host foreign exchange students, ages 15 to 18, coming to spend 10 months in the United States. These students come with their own spending money and health insurance. ASSE International Student Exchange Programs invites you and your family to join in this memorable and valued cultural experience. Donations being accepted in honor of Philip L. Rabadi

Organized by the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, donations are now being accepted to honor Philip L. Rabadi, a 2004 Guilderland High School graduate. Killed in April 2022, Philip was a beloved and talented surgical physician assistant at St. Peter’s Hospital. Contributions made in his name will go towards the goal of naming the second floor surgical waiting room in Philip’s name. For more information and to make a donation, please visit

    GHS Weekend Backpack Program, Annual Fundraiser

    The GHS Weekend Backpack Program runs from October through June and provides supplemental nutrition for students in need on the weekends, when school meals are not available.

    Drama Kids Programs

    In-person and online classes are fun, engaging, and filled with activities that will grow your child’s acting abilities, and help them develop the life skills they’ll need to navigate the changing world we live in.

    Drama Kids is committed to safely reopening live classes in Guilderland, Colonie, Delmar & Clifton Park. Class size is limited and taught under federally-approved COVID-19 guidelines.

    Interested in organizing a reunion for your graduating class? Let us know by sending an e-mail or calling the district’s Communications Office at 518-456-6200, ext. 0115 with details about the event,  including the class, date, location, time and contact information.     Guilderland Central School District Scholarship Fund

    Each year, the district awards several scholarships to deserving high school seniors based on criteria such as academic area of interest, athletic area of interest, and community service. Learn more about the scholarship fund.
