SchoolMessenger information for community members

SchoolMessenger is a way to receive email news from the district and its schools.

The district began utilizing SchoolMessenger in the 2018-19 school year for emergency notifications, such as school closings/delays and emergency situations in schools and has since expanded its use to include school and district-level messages.

The district is a central hub of activity in the community, particularly as it relates to educational and recreational opportunities available to children. This Community Announcements section is provided as a service to parents for informational purposes only. Programs listed are not necessarily affiliated with nor endorsed by the Guilderland Central School District. Guilderland Public Library 2023 Summer Reading Program, July-Aug. 

The Guilderland Public Library is holding the 2023 Summer Reading Program, July-Aug. By reading books, completing activities and attending programs, children of all ages can earn points to win prizes. Register for the program starting June 1 and earn points from July 6 to August 16. Dwayne Killings Summer Basketball Camp, June 26-30, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The Dwayne Killings Summer Basketball Camp will be held at the Guilderland YMCA, June 26-30, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This camp is for children ages 5-14. For more information see the attached flyer or visit this website.

2023 Summer Camp Catalog

Brightside Up is a non-profit organization serving parents parents, employers and child care providers in Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady Counties. They are a resource and referral agency, providing resources to the community by improving the availability and quality of child care. To keep parents informed of child care options and opportunities, they have created the 2023 Summer Camp Catalog to help parents access the many summer camp options in the area. Host a foreign scholar

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is in need of twenty families to host foreign exchange students, ages 15 to 18, coming to spend 10 months in the United States. These students come with their own spending money and health insurance. ASSE International Student Exchange Programs invites you and your family to join in this memorable and valued cultural experience. Capital Region Basketball Camp, June 26-30

For boys and girls, ages 8-15 years of age, the Capital Region Basketball Camp offers campers the opportunity to develop all facets of their game. Run by RPI head men’s basketball coach  Mark Gilbride and his staff, the camp runs from 9:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. and 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fri.  For more information, visit the website or see the attached brochure.

E-Sports County Rocket League, Apr. 4-June 8

E-Sports County Rocket League is a virtual program that offers professional Esports coaching for youth ages 13-17. The program features regular practices as well as scheduled competitive matchups each week. This free program  is offered by Albany County Parks and Recreation. Camp Little Notch, Summer 2023

Camp Little Notch is an authentic wilderness camp experience for girls ages 8-17, located on 443 acres of pristine wilderness in the Adirondack Park (744 Sly Pond Road, Fort Ann, NY 12827). Each session, Camp Little Notch develops an intentional community where girls feel safe and supported – a space where they can try new things, be their authentic selves, and make memories that last a lifetime. Campers can also enjoy classic summer activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, games and teambuilding, arts & crafts, hiking and more. Camp registration for 2023 is currently underway, with five sessions scheduled throughout the summer. Donations being accepted in honor of Philip L. Rabadi

Organized by the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, donations are now being accepted to honor Philip L. Rabadi, a 2004 Guilderland High School graduate. Killed in April 2022, Philip was a beloved and talented surgical physician assistant at St. Peter’s Hospital. Contributions made in his name will go towards the goal of naming the second floor surgical waiting room in Philip’s name.     GHS Weekend Backpack Program, Annual Fundraiser

    The GHS Weekend Backpack Program runs from October through June and provides supplemental nutrition for students in need on the weekends, when school meals are not available.

    Drama Kids Programs

    In-person and online classes are fun, engaging, and filled with activities that will grow your child’s acting abilities, and help them develop the life skills they’ll need to navigate the changing world we live in.

    Drama Kids is committed to safely reopening live classes in Guilderland, Colonie, Delmar & Clifton Park. Class size is limited and taught under federally-approved COVID-19 guidelines.

    Guilderland Central School District Scholarship Fund

    Each year, the district awards several scholarships to deserving high school seniors based on criteria such as academic area of interest, athletic area of interest, and community service. Learn more about the scholarship fund.
