ParentSquare information for community members
ParentSquare is a way to receive email news from the district and its schools.
The district began utilizing ParentSquare in the 2023-24 school year for emergency notifications, such as school closings/delays and emergency situations in schools and has since expanded its use to include school and district-level messages.

The district is a central hub of activity in the community, particularly as it relates to educational and recreational opportunities available to children. This Community Announcements section is provided as a service to parents for informational purposes only. Programs listed are not necessarily affiliated with nor endorsed by the Guilderland Central School District. For more information about the activities and organizations listed below, please use the contact information provided with each entry.

Current announcements
Learn to Skate Ice Skating Lessons, January 4–February 17, 2025
The Schenectady County Recreational Facility at 5 Tower Road, Glenville, NY, will host ice skating lessons for ages 4 through adult, from beginner to advanced levels. Each session includes seven classes with a 30-minute small group lesson and 30 minutes of practice time. Helmets are encouraged, and skate rentals are available for $5 per class.
Classes are offered:
• Saturdays, January 4–February 15, 2025 (times: 12:20-1:20 or 12:50-1:50)
• Mondays, January 6–February 17, 2025 (specific lesson times not guaranteed)

Festival of Trees, Dec. 1-30 & Holly Jolly Party, Dec. 14
- The Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center & Historic Lansing Manor is hosting a Festival of Trees from Dec. 1 -Dec. 30, where visitors can enjoy a beautiful display of Christmas trees decorated with energy-efficient lights by local non-profits.
- On Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the center will also hold a Holly Jolly Party featuring free photos with Santa, holiday ornaments for each child, letter writing to Santa, kids’ crafts, carriage rides, and more. The event will take place rain or shine with free admission and parking.
The Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project, located at 1378 State Route 30 in North Blenheim, NY, is the event venue, and further information about hours of operation can be obtained by visiting their website or calling 800-724-0309.

Holiday Open House and Greens Show at Historic Mynderse/Frederick House, Dec. 6-8
After extensive renovations, the historic Mynderse/Frederick House will host an Open House on Dec.6-8. Located at 451 Main Street (Route 146) in Guilderland Center, the historic house will come alive with decorations, fresh greens and handmade ornaments made by Garden Club members.
Attend the Open House for free refreshments, entertainment, tours and a visit from Santa. Ornaments, floral arrangements, decorated wreaths, raffle baskets and other crafts will be sold. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to community organizations, a scholarship for local high school students and our local food pantries. Please bring and donate a non-perishable food item for our local food pantries. For more details, see the linked flyer.
Host a foreign scholar
ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is in need of twenty families to host foreign exchange students, ages 15 to 18, coming to spend 10 months in the United States. These students come with their own spending money and health insurance. ASSE International Student Exchange Programs invites you and your family to join in this memorable and valued cultural experience. Donations being accepted in honor of Philip L. Rabadi
Organized by the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, donations are now being accepted to honor Philip L. Rabadi, a 2004 Guilderland High School graduate. Killed in April 2022, Philip was a beloved and talented surgical physician assistant at St. Peter’s Hospital. Contributions made in his name will go towards the goal of naming the second floor surgical waiting room in Philip’s name. Drama Kids Programs
In-person and online classes are fun, engaging, and filled with activities that will grow your child’s acting abilities, and help them develop the life skills they’ll need to navigate the changing world we live in.
Drama Kids is committed to safely reopening live classes in Guilderland, Colonie, Delmar & Clifton Park. Class size is limited and taught under federally-approved COVID-19 guidelines.

Guilderland Central School District Scholarship Fund
Each year, the district awards several scholarships to deserving high school seniors based on criteria such as academic area of interest, athletic area of interest, and community service. Learn more about the scholarship fund.
