Eleven New Positive COVID-19 Cases

Today, the district learned about eleven new positive COVID-19 cases that the. Three of the cases listed below require contact tracing by the school. Those individuals have already been contacted on the need to quarantine. Please note that the New York State Department of Health guidelines decreased the quarantine period from 14 days to 10 days.

  • One case at Altamont Elementary School. No contact tracing by the school is required for this case because the individual was not on campus while infectious.
  • One case at Westmere Elementary School. The district followed Albany County Department of Health guidelines to determine who is required to quarantine. Those individuals have been contacted and the Department of Health should be following up with them.
  • One case at Guilderland Elementary School. No contact tracing by the school is required for this case because the individual was not on campus while infectious.
  • Two cases at Farnsworth Middle School. One of these cases required contact tracing by the school. Because of the number of staff in quarantine, students on the Mohawk 6C team at FMS will be remote-only from Tuesday, Jan. 12 through Friday, Jan. 15.
  • Five cases at Guilderland High School. One of these cases required contacting tracing as a result. All individuals have been contacted and should receive a follow up from the ACDOH. Because of the number of staff on quarantine, all students and staff on the Hiawatha 8A team at GHS will be remote-only from Tuesday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 14.
