Feb. 19: A Message from Superintendent Dr. Wiles

Please see a message from Superintendent Dr. Marie Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

I hope your child has enjoyed a little slower pace this week. Before we round out the remainder of the winter break, I want to share a few brief updates and reminders.

Over this week, the district learned of one new positive COVID-19 case connected to Guilderland High School. Contact tracing by the school was not necessary because the person was not on campus while they were infectious.

As a reminder, please make sure you are familiar with the guidelines for travel to New York and the protocol for a symptomatic household member. Students who travel will not be able to return to in-person instruction until all quarantine and testing requirements are satisfied. This will ensure the health and safety of everyone when school resumes on Monday, Feb. 22.

Lastly, I want to pause and recognize how far we have come since the beginning of this school year. As I write this, the GHS Guilderland Players are working hard on their production of Little Women that will be streamed at the end of March, and FMS MASK is planning for their cabaret-style production that will be streamed. The Chamber Strings had a live performance a couple of weeks ago and our athletes are participating in a full array of winter sports. No one would have thought this possible just a few months ago. This forward progress couldn’t have happened without the hard work of our students and staff.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Please have a happy and safe weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
