Feb. 12: One New Case at GHS

New case and notifications over winter break

Today, the district learned of one new positive COVID-19 case connected to Guilderland High School. GHS Principal Michael Piscitelli followed Albany County Department of Health guidelines to determine and contact individuals who need to quarantine as a result.

As a reminder, during the winter break, we will not send a daily notification of new cases to staff and families. We will send a summary of new cases for the week on Friday, Feb. 19, and our regular updates will resume on Monday, Feb. 22.  However, all new confirmed cases during break week will be reported to the NY COVID-19 Dashboard, and if contact tracing is required as a result of any new cases, we will contact those individuals directly. Also, if there is significant news or development that requires action, we will send an email, phone call, or text as needed.

Protocol and guideline reminders

If you haven’t already, please familiarize yourself with the protocol when there is a symptomatic household member and the New York State guidelines for travel outside of New York (states that share a border are exempt). It is essential that you are aware of and continue to follow these health and safety guidelines.

2021-22 Budget Thoughtexchange results

From January 13 to January 29, 2021, the district hosted three Thoughtexchanges to gather advice from our school community about what’s important as the district develops the 2021-22 school budget. District administration and the Board of Education are using the results of these exchanges to inform their budget priorities.
