GCSD honors retirees and newly tenured educators for 2022-23

On Tuesday, May 9, the Guilderland Central School District celebrated and recognized employees who have achieved the extraordinary milestones of tenure and retirement at its annual Employee Achievement Ceremony. 

Recognition of retirees

A total of 27 individuals are retiring this year with more than 600 years of combined service to our students, schools and community. We are incredibly grateful for their contributions, as their work will have an everlasting impact on our district. Their dedication and commitment to excellence are part of what makes Guilderland all that it is. The ceremony included special introductions for each retiree from administrators, detailing their years of service and exceptional accomplishments. Congratulations to the following GCSD employees being recognized in the 2022-23 school year for their retirement:

The following employees entering retirement were unable to attend the ceremony but were also honored on Tuesday evening:

  • Ralph Camardo, Transportation, 21.5 years
  • Elizabeth David, Custodial Worker, 17 years
  • Mary Fontana, Keyboard Specialist, 26 years
  • Debra Marks, Maintenance, 28 years
  • Bonnie Vanalstyne, Transportation, 31 years
  • Vincent Varvaro, Food Service, 14 years

    Recognition of newly tenured educators

    The Board of Education officially awarded tenure to 23 educators at Tuesday’s ceremony. Each of these staff members have demonstrated their exceptional abilities and have met high standards for sustained contributions and outstanding performance. Please join us in congratulating the following GCSD employees on receiving a tenure appointment in the 2022-23 school year:
