March 6 update: Spring updates and opportunities at GCSD

Dear GCSD families,

As our community begins to welcome the first signs of spring, our school calendar is already blooming with activity: spring sports started at GHS on March 9—visit our sports schedule for game times; our elementary schools are hosting their spring concerts in the coming weeks; and, spring break is just around the corner.

Spring time is also the budget season at GCSD. As we move closer to the May 19 budget vote, we will continue to share updates, answer your questions, and keep you informed about the latest developments. In March, there will be several opportunities to be a part of the conversation:

  • Tuesday, March 10: Presentation of proposed budget to Board of Education
  • Tuesday, March 17: Budget Q&A session
  • Tuesday, March 31: Board of Education budget workshop

Universal pre-kindergarten registration is open March 9

The GCSD will offer Universal Pre-K (UPK) for the 2026-27 school year through New York state funding. The free program is open to Guilderland families with children who will be four years old by Dec. 1, 2026 (birthdates between Dec. 2, 2021 and Dec. 1, 2022).

Space is limited. All families—including those already enrolled with an approved childcare provider—must register here between March 9 and March 27, 2026, to enter the lottery for a state-funded spot. When registering, select ‘Universal Pre-K Lottery Registration’ in the school dropdown under Student Information. Current enrollment with a partner site does not guarantee a UPK placement, and awarded spots may be with a different provider.
