Sept. 28: Member of GHS Tests Positive for COVID-19

On September 28, the district learned of a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in the Guilderland High School Community. Please remember that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict the district from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information and we cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

The district worked with the Albany County Department of Health and determined that the risk of transmission was minimal and everyone exposed has been contacted. Classes will resume tomorrow, September 29, as planned.

The school district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Health Department and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings. You can find more health and safety information here in the GCSD reopening plan.

Here are helpful resources provided by the Albany County Department of Health of protocols for COVID-19 screening and quarantine.

Please reach out to your building administrator or principal directly if you would like more information about health and safety procedures.
