Seven Guilderland High School student musicians have earned selection to New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State performing ensembles, one of the highest honors a student musician can achieve in New York state.
The students selected to perform in All-State ensembles are Crosby Belisle, trombone (Symphonic Band); Grace Curro, trombone (Symphony Orchestra); Grace Foran, soprano II (Treble Chorus); Adam Hawrylchak, euphonium (Symphonic Band); Christopher Hoffman, bass I (Mixed Chorus); Lauren Rose Mele, soprano I (Mixed Chorus); and Alex Parmerter, percussion in the Wind Ensemble and bass II in the Mixed Chorus.
Additionally, Anthony Padula (French horn), Caleb Pinder (flute) and Emily Winans (cello) were selected as All-State alternates.
Three of the selected students also earned alternate placements in additional All-State ensembles: Grace Curro (jazz trombone), Adam Hawrylchak (tenor II) and Alex Parmerter (jazz drum set).
Each year, thousands of student musicians across New York participate in the NYSSMA Solo Evaluation Festival and compete for a place in one of the organization’s All-State ensembles. Selection is based on scores earned during the festival, where students perform before certified adjudicators who evaluate all aspects of their musical performance.
The selected musicians will travel to Rochester from Dec. 3-6 for the 2026 NYSSMA Conference All-State Festival and 90th Annual Winter Conference. During the four-day event, they will rehearse with outstanding student musicians from across New York state before performing a final concert at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre at the Eastman School of Music.
