GHS seniors earn National Merit Scholarship semifinalist honors

Four Guilderland High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them among the highest-scoring students in New York. The students are Kamsiyonna Akubuo, Jordan Baker, Kevin Roddy and Hamsini Subramanian.

More than 16,000 students nationwide were selected as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists from a pool of approximately 50,000 high-scoring participants. Semifinalists are the highest-scoring entrants in each state and may advance to finalist standing and compete for National Merit Scholarships. About 95% of semifinalists are expected to become finalists.

The honor recognizes years of academic achievement, dedication and hard work.

Please join us in congratulating Kamsiyonna, Jordan, Kevin and Hamsini on this accomplishment!
