Two GHS student athletes receive leadership awards

The Capital Zone NYS Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance honors two students from each school district every year with the High School Leadership Award. 
This year, Bianca Simeone and Caleb Jacobson are these award recipients. 

Bianca Simeone

As a member of the Varsity Field HockeyBianca Team, Nordic Cross-Country Ski Team, and a member of the Lady Dutch Softball Team, physical education and sports have played an important role in Bianca’s high school career. Bianca demonstrates leadership by being Captain of the Nordic Cross-Country Ski Team and being involved in National Honors Society. Her favorite memory of her sports career was being the field hockey goalie and winning Sectionals in 2019. This Sectional win was the first ever in the program’s history. In her high school time, she has also been a member of Key Club and Sources of Strength. She has over 200 hours of community service and has set an example for her fellow classmates. Bianca has also received the Board of Education Academic Excellence Award numerous times. She plans to attend Clemson University or Coastal Carolina University in Fall of 2021. She plans to major in Biology with her sights set on becoming a pediatrician. College (anticipated): Clemson University or Coastal Carolina University for Biological Sciences; GPA: 96.8%

Caleb Jacobson

Caleb is a member of the GuilderlandCaleb in the GHS gym Varsity Football and Lacrosse team. As an athlete, sports and physical education have always been a top priority for Caleb only second to school. Caleb has demonstrated leadership by being a captain for both Varsity Lacrosse and Football as well as being a member of National Honor Society. Throughout high school Caleb has also been a member of Sources of Strength and received the Board of Education award numerous times for maintaining above a 95 average for the entire year. Caleb plans on studying Biology with hopes of becoming an orthopedic doctor.  College (anticipated): Adelphi University or Stony Brook University to study Biological Science;  GPA: 94.5%
