In accordance with New York State law, the Guilderland Central School District regularly conducts testing of all water outlets used for drinking and cooking to ensure the health and safety of the school community. The district recently completed testing for the 2023-2025 compliance period, which requires each outlet to test below the 5 parts per billion (ppb) lead threshold. Water outlets that exceed 5 ppb must be labeled with “do not drink” signage, remediated and re-tested to confirm they are no longer above the action level. At all times, the district takes steps to ensure that all students and staff have an adequate supply of clean water for drinking and cooking.
Lead testing was initiated at GCSD in 2016 at all district water outlets used for drinking and cooking. In 2020, the test was repeated. Those outlets that were measured at above 5 ppb in 2020 were re-tested in 2023. Outlets that exceeded the 5 ppb limit in 2023 were labeled with signage stating “do not drink.” These outlets were remediated (plumbing fixtures were removed and replaced) and re-tested. You can view test results by building for 2023 below.
In 2024, all district water outlets used for drinking and cooking were tested for lead again. Those that exceeded the 5 ppb threshold were remediated and re-tested. You can view test results by building for 2024 below.
In December 2025, these water outlets were re-tested. The latest test results indicate that five outlets within the district require additional remediation through a filtration system. These outlets are currently labeled with signs reading “do not drink” until further testing absolves them. You can view test results by building for 2025 below.
