Congratulations to Sofia Cannistraci(Varsity Field Hockey) and Meghan Collins(Varsity Field Hockey) for earning DOW (Dutchmen of the Week) honors for the week of October 11.
Sofia had nine saves in a triple overtime victory over Saratoga to secure the 2nd seed in sectional play. She had a stellar performance in regulation and double overtime. On the shootout she allowed only one goal out of five attempts, including diving saves to secure the win for the Lady Dutch!
Meghan assisted on the goal that tied the game against Saratoga, played every minute of the game which included all 60 minutes of regulation, 20 minutes of 7v7 overtime and eventually scored the game winning goal in a shootout. Her performance helped the team to its first ever 2nd seed in league play going into sectionals and also the best overall sectional record of 10-4 in the history of the program. Meghan plays a central midfield role and her play and decision-making elevated her team. Her defensive play on the penalty corner team helped to keep the game preserved.

Each week, we will highlight two student athletes (Modified, Mod 9, Frosh, JV or varsity level) for athletic accomplishments based on the following criteria.
- The athlete should have made a significant impact to a contest within the nomination time frame, which is the week prior to selection; or
- The athlete must have shown excellent leadership, sportsmanship, noticeable improvement/effort, community service and/or other notable trait(s).
