Dear GCSD community,
As the 2025-26 school year comes to a close, our schools have been filled with celebration, reflection and pride. Over the past few weeks, we’ve enjoyed field days, friendship games, moving-up ceremonies and, today, commencement; all moments that help us usher in summer while recognizing our students’ accomplishments.
These events highlight what makes Guilderland so special: the joy of learning, the strength of our community and the dedication of our students and staff. From our youngest learners taking their next steps to our seniors preparing for what comes next, each milestone speaks to the resilience and determination across our schools.
The Guilderland High School Class of 2026 graduation ceremony takes place today at the MVP arena. The event promises to be a celebration filled with joy, music and inspirational messages for the future. We are so proud to recognize this class that has grown as learners, leaders and contributors to the community. Their accomplishments reflect the support of their families, the dedication of their educators and the spirit of our district. You can view the commencement of the Class of 2026 live here. It will also be posted on the GHS Media YouTube channel shortly. Visit our Facebook and Instagram pages to view still photos from the ceremony.
Watch for scams impersonating ParentSquare and school personnel
We’ve been made aware of scams targeting parents, students and staff by pretending to be ParentSquare or school personnel.
These scams may come as:
- Emails asking you to sign a document (often with a DocuSign logo)
- Phone calls pretending to be from the school
- Messages offering laptop sales or educational services
These messages are meant to trick you into sharing personal information. Here are steps to take to protect yourself:
- Double-check ParentSquare messages before clicking any links or opening attachments
- Hover over links to make sure they look legitimate
- Use the official ParentSquare app or website instead of links in emails
- Confirm unexpected DocuSign requests with your school before signing
- Contact the school directly if something seems suspicious
- Look closely at email addresses and links for misspellings or unusual domains
- Never share passwords, verification codes or payment information through email, text or phone
If you think you’ve received a scam message, please report it to the district IT Department.
Summer activities and event information
We continue to update Community Announcements on our website with information on opportunities for learning, outdoor fun and sports to enjoy this summer. You can also visit Guilderland Parks & Recreation for information on camps, swim lessons, community events and the Guilderland Performing Arts Center schedule.
Summer reading
Our librarians have shared their summer reading recommendations for children and teens of all grade levels. Audio and e-book options are available through the school and public libraries as well as the Sora platform. Visit our Summer Reading page for additional information and links to each school library.
In addition, the Guilderland Public Library is hosting a summer reading program from July 27 – Aug. 15 with activities and events for kids K-12.
As we officially close out the 2025-26 school year, I want to thank our students, staff and families for your partnership and your continued dedication. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated successes and continued to move our district forward.
On behalf of the entire GCSD community, I wish you a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall, ready for another year of learning and growth.
Sincerely,
Daniel Mayberry
Superintendent of Schools
