GCSD community raising awareness about Ewing Sarcoma

For the second year, the Guilderland Central School District community is raising awareness about Ewing Sarcoma, a rare cancer Jenna Meier and Gabe Zullo, two Guilderland High School students, are battling.

Erin McNamara and Danielle Brenner, both teachers at GHS, are organizing a community walk on May 1 in Tawasentha Park to continue to promote awareness.  All funds raised will be donated to Ewing Sarcoma research.  In preparation for the walk, they will be selling t-shirts, bandanas, and sunglasses, all in yellow, the color that represents Ewing Sarcoma.  Gear can be purchased through Wicked Smart Apparel using this link:  #SarcomaStrongFundraiser.  Those interested in joining the walk, may register for free by using this link: Still Stronger Walk.

According to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ewing Sarcoma is more likely to occur in children and teenagers and is so rare that about 200 children and young adults are diagnosed each year in the U.S.

For more information on the Still Strong Walk or the merchandise sale, see the attached flyer. If you have any questions, please reach out to Erin McNamara at mcnamarae@guilderlandschools.net or Danielle Benner at bennerd@guilderlandschools.net.
