GCSD Update: Home Learning Website Launched, April 14, 2020

A message from Superintendent Dr. Marie Wiles:

Dear Guilderland Families:

It is almost impossible to believe that our school buildings have been closed a full month yesterday, April 14. It seems like so much longer than that. We genuinely miss seeing your children — we think about their social, emotional and physical well-being each and every day.

I know that this new mode of remote school is a lot to digest and balance, but it is so important that our children engage in meaningful learning opportunities while our school buildings are closed. Thank you so much for your support and patience, and for simply doing the best you can during this trying time.

To help you support your children’s remote learning, the district has created a remote learning website. You can also find the website and more information about learning from home here.

The home learning website is organized by level (elementary, middle, high), by building, by house and team at FMS, and by individual teacher at the elementary level. All of the materials that your child will need to engage in learning from home can be accessed at this single point of entry. Middle and high school students should log in using their Google Classroom account. At the elementary level, there are options for students and/or parents to log into each teacher’s class materials and activities.

The site also has resources to support the social and emotional well-being of your children, as well as additional educational engagement resources.

Here in Guilderland, we are keenly aware of the many challenges that our families are facing during this time of isolation and uncertainty. It is our hope that this resource streamlines access to learning materials and simplifies the organization of your child’s remote learning experience.

Thank you again for doing your best to work with us to support the social, emotional, academic well-being of your children. Together, we will get through this.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me or to your building principal.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent
