A message from Superintendent Mayberry
Dear GCSD families,
I want to thank everyone who participated in the recent ThoughtExchange survey. Your input provides valuable insights that help me better understand our school community and guide my work as I learn, listen and lead.
I will present the ThoughtExchange results to the community at the next Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Following the meeting, the results will be shared on the district website and via ParentSquare.
Your voices have been heard, and together with the district leadership team, I am committed to using your feedback to guide meaningful progress across our schools. I hope you’ll join us on Tuesday!
School closure and delay information
Since we’ve already seen our first dusting of snow, it’s a good time to remind families of the district’s inclement weather procedures. Guilderland Central School District schools will be delayed or closed when snow or poor road conditions make travel difficult or impossible. Additional information about closings and delays can be found on the district website.
Community Announcements
A reminder to check the Community Announcements page, where local organizations share educational and recreational opportunities for GCSD students and families. The page is updated regularly, so be sure to check back often.
NYSED Digital Equity Survey
As required by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), GCSD and all other New York schools must report data on students’ access to the internet and at-home computing devices for learning. To accomplish this task, parents and guardians are asked to complete a digital resource survey for each student in their family.
We urge all families to take a few minutes to complete the survey. By doing so, you will help ensure all students have equal access to technology as well as digital tools. In recent years, student home access to the internet has become a fundamental aspect of learning.
The survey will be emailed to each family with student information prepopulated; please look for the email to arrive by the end of next week.
Sincerely,
Daniel Mayberry
Superintendent of Schools
