Oct. 24 update: Strengthening connections

Dear GCSD families,

As we move through October, I continue to be inspired by the ways our school community comes together to celebrate one another and contribute to the success of our district.

Celebrating our outstanding employees
Before this week’s Board of Education meeting, 15 members of our GCSD team were honored at this year’s Employee Recognition Ceremony. Nominated by colleagues and selected by peers, each honoree was recognized for the exceptional work they do every day for our students and schools. We are grateful for their talent, dedication, and positive impact on our community. View this year’s honorees.

Join the GCSD Audit Committee
The Board of Education is seeking a community member to serve on the district’s Audit Committee, which meets monthly during the school year. If you have accounting or auditing experience and want to support the district’s work, please visit our website to learn more about the role and how to apply.

Recycling Extravaganza: Saturday, Oct. 25
The GCSD Biannual Recycling Extravaganza takes place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Farnsworth Middle School. This free, community-wide event is open to all. View full event information and a list of accepted items to recycle.

Community Announcements
While you’re visiting our website, I encourage you to check the Community Announcements page, where local organizations share educational and recreational opportunities for GCSD students and families. The page is updated regularly, so be sure to check back often.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement—it’s wonderful to see what we can accomplish together. I also want to thank everyone who participated in our recent ThoughtExchange. Your feedback will help shape next steps and guide our planning for the future of GCSD. We look forward to sharing the results with you soon.

Sincerely,

Daniel Mayberry
Superintendent of Schools
