On May 17, Guilderland Central School District voters approved a $109,887,845 proposed budget for the 2022-23 school year by a vote of 3,215 (YES) to 1,483 (NO), a 68.43% approval. The budget carries a 4.68% increase in spending over the current year’s budget and will result in a 2.98% tax levy increase, which is within the district’s tax levy limit.
“Thank you to all of the community members who voted today,” Superintendent Dr. Marie Wiles said. “Your support of the Guilderland students and staff is greatly appreciated and enables us to continue our commitment to offering robust academics and the programs that contribute to the social and emotional well-being of all students.”
Bus Proposition
Residents also approved the purchase of eight 66-passenger buses, by a vote of 3,319 (YES) to 1,337 (NO).
Board of Education Election
Ten candidates sought election for four open board of education seats. They are:
Kelly Person 3,005 votes;
Gloria Towle-Hilt 2,969 votes;
Katie DiPierro 2,908 votes;
Kimberly Blasiak 2,871 votes; and
Barbara Fraterrigo 1,264 votes
Mark Reamer 1,132 votes
April McAllister 1,035 votes
Nicole Coonradt 1,027 votes
Jennifer Romano 982 votes
William Kearney 546 votes
The terms will be filled by the candidates with the four highest vote totals.
