GCSD Update on COVID-19: March 16, 2020

Please note the language concerning the date for the school closing has been updated from when the letter was originally sent on March 16, 2020. School districts in the Capital Region are seeking clarification on the date students are expected to return to school.

Dear GCSD Families,

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today that due to ongoing public health concerns related to COVID-19/Coronavirus, all schools in New York State will be closed for at least two weeks, effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, barring any other changes.

We recognize the hardship these changes will place on our families. Please know that the district is committed to providing you with continued support during the closure. To that end, we are providing free breakfast and lunch to students in need daily throughout the week. Please check this page for more details.

Earlier today, we posted a variety of online resources to help keep our students engaged in learning while school is closed.

The most current and accurate information about the coronavirus can be found at www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/coronavirus.

We recognize that this extraordinary situation presents an array of difficulties for our students, employees and families. We are committed to doing everything we can to support our community at this time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marie Wiles
Superintendent
