Oct. 14 update: capital projects; 23-24 budget ThoughtExchange; 22-23 budget vote exit survey report

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

A year ago, Guilderland residents approved a capital improvement proposal which included projects to enhance safety, technology and facilities throughout the Guilderland Central School District. You can learn more about the status of many of these projects on the district website.

One of the largest undertakings has been the construction of a new turf field and track at Guilderland High School. Presently, there are still a few aspects of this project that remain to be completed before the new facility can be safely used by Guilderland athletes and spectators. We will keep families updated as the status changes.

Watch for a 2023-24 school budget ThoughtExchange next week

The district will launch a school budget ThoughtExchange next week. This online forum will provide GCSD families, staff and community members with the opportunity to share their priorities for the 2023-24 school budget. Guilderland residents are also invited to provide public comments at Board of Education meetings to offer budget recommendations. The next BOE meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m., in the GHS Large Group Instruction room. BOE meetings are also live-streamed and can be viewed on the GHS Media YouTube channel.

2022-23 budget vote exit survey report now available

On May 17, 2022, GCSD conducted an exit survey during the annual school budget vote for the 2022-23 school year. The purpose was to collect demographic data and information about who voted on the budget and why community members voted the way they did. View the 2022-23 budget vote exit survey report on the district website.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to enjoy the lovely fall weather.

Sincerely,

Marie Wiles, Ph.D
Superintendent
