Apr. 5 update: LES permanent principal named; director of technology announced

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

I am pleased to make two personnel announcements. After serving as interim Principal since July 2021, Jacqulyn Vandenburgh has been named as the permanent principal at Lynnwood Elementary School. The decision was approved by the Board of Education at their Mar. 29 meeting and is effective immediately. The district is also welcoming Dave Howell as director of technology. Filling a newly recreated position, Mr. Howell will provide leadership in an area that touches every aspect of the district’s operations. Please join me in congratulating both Ms. Vandenburgh and Mr. Howell.

COVID-19 cases for Apr. 1-Apr. 5

The information below details the number of new COVID-19 positive cases for Apr. 1-Apr. 5. For daily positive COVID-19 cases affecting GCSD, please visit the NYS COVID-19 Report Card.

Altamont Elementary School: 2 new cases
Guilderland Elementary School: 5 new cases
Lynnwood Elementary School: 3 new cases
Pine Bush Elementary School: 2 new cases
Westmere Elementary School: 2 new cases
Farnsworth Middle School: 6 new cases
Guilderland High School: 10 new cases

In the message sent to GCSD families on Apr. 1, it was reported that Lynnwood Elementary School had three COVID-19 cases. This was an error. Two of those cases should have been attributed to Pine Bush Elementary School and one should have been attributed to Westmere Elementary School. There were no COVID-19 cases at LES for the time period of Mar. 29-Apr. 1.

As always, thank you for your continued patience and support.

Sincerely,

Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
