A message from Dr. Wiles:
Dear GCSD Families,
Yesterday a letter was sent to Guilderland Central School District families detailing students’ attendance through Feb. 13, which was the one hundredth day of school. They were sent via ParentSquare; to retrieve your letter please log into ParentSquare. The purpose of this letter is to highlight the importance of consistent attendance and how it impacts student success and well-being. If you have any questions regarding your child’s attendance, please contact your building principal.
National School Resource Officer Day
Yesterday was National School Resource Officer Day, which recognizes the valuable work school officers perform each and every day. GCSD is quite fortunate to have two exceptional officers, Sean Ralston and Kris Scarano, in our school buildings. They are outstanding additions to the GCSD team who have formed valuable relationships with our students. They serve many roles — as educators, mentors, counselors and officers — and go above and beyond to keep our school community safe every day. Please join me in thanking Officer Ralston and Officer Scarano!
FMS and GHS musicals
In early March the Guilderland school community will be treated to the productions of two musicals by middle and high school drama teams. FMS Mask presents “Legally Blonde, JR., The Musical” Mar. 1-2 at 7:00 p.m. and Mar. 3 at 2:00 p.m. The Guilderland Players will present “Something Rotten!” on Mar. 7-9 at 7:00 p.m. and Mar. 10 at 2:00 p.m. Students, staff, advisors and volunteers are working very hard on these productions and they are certain to be enjoyable and very entertaining.
Important school calendar information
At their Feb. 13 meeting, the board of education approved the general calendar for the 2024-25 academic year. Please visit the district website to download a PDF copy. Additionally, there is no school for all students Feb. 19-23 for Presidents’ Week Recess; school and district offices are closed on Monday, Feb. 19 for Presidents’ Day.
Thank you for your continued support of Guilderland Central School District students and our school community. Have a wonderful and enjoyable long weekend and a restful recess week.
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
