A message from Dr. Wiles:
Dear GCSD Families,
Due to inclement weather earlier this week, the Guilderland Central School District board of education meeting, originally scheduled for Jan. 9, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be held in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) room at Guilderland High School and will be live-streamed on the GHS Media YouTube channel. View the meeting agenda here.
Look for a budget survey next week
District administrators are in the midst of developing the budget for the 2024-2025 school year and an important part of the process is receiving input from the Guilderland school community. To facilitate this, the district will launch a survey next week to gather information on budget priorities from various GCSD stakeholders. Families, staff, teachers and students will receive the link to participate in this short survey on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Community members will be able to access the survey link on the district website.
DEI fireside chat, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The DEI Engagement Committee is hosting two fireside chats at the Guilderland Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The purpose of these forums is to provide Guilderland community members with the opportunity to participate in discussions centered around DEI in an informal, relaxed setting.
Kindergarten information nights
All five of the GCSD elementary schools will be holding kindergarten information nights next week. Dates and times can be found on the district website.

This is a reminder that the Guilderland Police Department has a Confidential Tip Line for use by families, faculty, staff and students in the GCSD school community. Operated and staffed by the GPD, this community safety resource can be reached by calling 518-356-1503. To learn more about the Confidential Tip Line, visit the district website.
Monday, Jan. 15 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day
There is no school on Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A visionary and advocate for equality and civil rights, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his work is honored with a day commemorating his birthday. This annual holiday has become an official day of service and volunteerism with the purpose of building stronger, more unified communities. Inspired by Dr. King, students in Sarah Gockley’s CSP art class at GHS created colorful artwork. The photos below show Alexandra T., Brianna C., Nyla T. and Jackson P. proudly displaying their pieces.
Thank you for your continued support of Guilderland Central School District students and our school community. Have a wonderful and enjoyable long weekend.
Sincerely,
Marie Wiles, Ph.D.
Superintendent
