Jan. 26 update: STOP Conference; fund balance and reserves presentation; budget survey; Future Ready Task Force; report cards

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

Recently a group of 19 Farnsworth Middle School and Guilderland High School students attended the 2024 Students Together Opposing Prejudice (STOP) Conference organized by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The theme of this year’s conference was “The Legacy of Bayard Rustin,” with a focus on breaking down barriers that biases may create. Read how FMS and GHS students left the conference inspired and motivated.

Future Ready Task Force

With almost 50 members appointed by the board of education at their Jan. 16 meeting, the Future Ready Task Force (FRTF) met for the first time on Tues., Jan. 23. The task force will review best practices and gather input from the community to recommend priorities that will ensure GCSD graduates are prepared for their future beyond high school. In addition to meeting as a large group, the task force will break into sub-committee work groups to focus on areas such as K-12 educational programming, technology and facilities. The next meeting of the task force is scheduled for late February.
