March 11 update: no school Mar. 15; UPK registration; social media learning session; board meeting and budget Q&A; DEI virtual fireside chat

A message from Dr. Wiles:

Dear GCSD Families,

There will be no school for all Guilderland Central School District students on Friday, Mar. 15. This scheduled Superintendent’s Conference Day provides faculty and staff with the opportunity to engage in a variety of learning experiences. Building main offices will be closed while clerical staff participate in professional development. All calls will be routed to the district office during this time.

UPK registration

Registration for the GCSD Universal Pre-K program is open until Tuesday, Mar. 26. Visit the district website here for application information.

Learning session on social media intelligence and well-being

On Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 7:00 p.m. GCSD and the Farnsworth Middle School PTA will co-sponsor a virtual learning session for families on digital and social media led by Chris Vollum. Learn more about the event on the district website. To register for the event, complete and submit this linked Google form by Mar. 15.

Board of Education meeting and budget Q&A workshop

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Mar. 12, there will be a meeting of the board of education and Question and Answer workshop about the 2024-25 school year budget. This meeting provides the board and the Guilderland community with the opportunity to ask questions of district administrators about the draft of the general operating budget.

This meeting will be held in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) room at Guilderland High School and is open to the public. Members of the GCSD community are welcome and encouraged to voice ideas, questions and concerns. The meeting will also be live-streamed and can be viewed on the GHS Media YouTube channel. Virtual DEI Fireside Chat, Tuesday, Mar. 12, 12:00 and 6:30 p.m.

The DEI Engagement Committee is hosting two virtual fireside chats tomorrow, Tuesday, Mar. 12. The purpose of these forums is to provide Guilderland community members with the opportunity to participate in discussions centered around DEI. The attached flyer contains the links to jion the virtual meetings. We hope you can attend.
